Harvest of Hope [Event]

For the second year, I have had the honor of photographing the Catholic Charities’ Harvest of Hope event. Catholic Charities supports over 20,000 families in Fresno County each year and many more throughout the Central Valley. The event was held at a private residence in Fresno and honored some of the area’s most giving individuals including the late Bishop John T. Steinbock. PINC 2011 [Party]

It’s hard to believe that it has been a year since the last PINC Party. Amazing how time flies. This year’s party was no different… fun, great food and drinks, energetic people and lots of pink for a very good cause! This year the money raised went to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central California. I don’t know the total raised at this point, but I have a feeling it is going to be a big number. Please check out PINC if you would like to get involved in future events and be sure to donate to Make-A-Wish to help a child’s dream come true.

Catholic Charities [Harvest of Hope]

Last weekend I had the honor of photographing the Catholic Charities Harvest of Hope Gala. The event was held at a private residence in Fresno but the money raised will benefit many needy areas of the valley. Behind all the entertainment and great food was a wonderful cause that goes to support over 200,000 people a year. The event recognized outstanding members of the community who have gone above and beyond in their dedication to helping others. PINC [Party]

A few weeks ago I had the honor to shoot the PINC Party to benefit the Marjaree Mason Center. The event was held at Weber BMW in Northeast Fresno. Good times were had by all. Great food, drinks and friends. The dancing did not want to stop, but eventually we had to shut it down. Partying on Palm Ave outside after midnight is frowned upon. The Great Fresno Tweetup [Events]

On Thursday a large group of Fresnans gathered for The Great Fresno Tweetup (#TGFT) at the Grizzlies game, which brought together Fresno’s Twitter community. If you don’t know what Twitter is, it is a micro blogging service that allows people to interact in short 140 character messages. It is a service that is growing very quickly and you can learn more about it here and follow me on it here. The event was organized by the Fresno Grizzlies and the Fresno Beehive and was by all accounts a great success. There was a large turn out and the Grizzlies won a close game. Fresno Grizzlies

I was lucky to check out not one, but two, Grizzlies games this week. Both were against the Tacoma Rainiers. The first was a Tuesday day game that had Fresno pull off a 5-4 win. It was one of the quickest baseball games I have ever attended – clocking in at 2:07.

The next game was a Thirsty Thursdays game. I like how the ballpark wised up and started offering bigger 24oz beer for $2. It keeps the lines down and allows one to sit and watch the game. Unfortunately, the Grizzlies lost, giving up 6 runs in the 8th-9th innings.

I brought the camera for the day game and took some great shots. You can check them out after the jump.

Fresno Blog War

War is never fun. The whole death and suffering thing kinda makes it a downer. But blog wars are great! It is all the nerdy gossip of high school, spread over the Internets for all to see.

Fresno had a blog war this week that I somehow missed till now. It started with the Beehive inviting people to the 2009 Blogger Olympics (last year’s post) and leaving some people off the roster.

This lead to an epic battle of posts and comments: here, here, here, and here, with everyone taking sides – mainstream vs indie blogger.

In the end, the olive branch was extended and there is now peace in the world of Fresno blogs.

Greatest T-Shirt Ever???

Okay, greatest t-shirt ever might be taking it a little to far, but they are still really cool, extremely funny, and a little nerdy. I am still working on business cards and he has t-shirts. How is one suppose to compete with that kind of marketing.

Nice work Conlan. Go buy one at Cafepress to help him out. Oh, and If you are not reading his blog, This is Conlan, you should be.

Big day for the Fresno Intertubes today, the Beehive got a new look. Go check it out, I’ll wait…

And you’re back. Along with that look, they also got a lot more functionality. Categories, featured posts, better search, tags, more author info, and wait for it… A blog roll circa 2005.

Some how they were kind enough to add my little site to their blog roll as you can see from the picture below.

For me, that is a pretty big deal. I never thought my site, which is still in it’s infancy, would be linked to a major paper’s blog.

As MikeOz warned in the comments of the update post,

Also (and let this be a notice to people who made the blog roll we’re looking for bloggers who update regularly.

I will work hard to keep interesting and relevant content posted, and if anyone has any suggestions, my inbox is always open.

I also want to thank The Fresnan for linking me in their blog roll too. Somehow I think I should get a blog roll and step into 2005. Thanks Beehive
